insomnia is typically a result of uncontrolled "bee hive-style" thoughts that block your mind from entering the relaxing state. The best non-chemical approach is to train your mind to observe the thinking experience and recognizing it for what it really is. The most effective way to train your mind is mindfulnesses (a.k.a vipassana) meditation practice.
