On the basis of these calculations, we estimate there were 655,000
adult male and 143,000 adult female war casualties, or a total of 798,000
adult (persons above age 15) Vietnamese war deaths. Based upon our estimate
of 84,000 war deaths among children (calculations not shown here),
the estimated number of all Vietnamese war deaths rises to 882,000.'4
