A jab-happy pensioner in India illegally took twelve doses of the COVID-19 vaccine before police caught up with him.

“We have already found evidence that he took eight jabs from four places,” Amarendra Pratap Shahi, civil surgeon of Madhepura, told the BBC.

Mandal who “kept detailed handwritten” notes of the dates, times and location of the vaccine, told BBC he actually received 11 doses between February and December.

His twelfth, which was not set to be his last, was taken on Jan. 4, police say.

The vaccine buff said he wanted to feel stronger and claimed the shots got rid of the joint pain he had been suffering for 8 years.

“After taking the jabs my body aches and pain disappeared. I used to have knee pain and walked with a stick. Now I don’t. I feel fine,” he said. Mandal said he took nine vaccines using his own ID card.
