First, the countries offering the highest payouts for gold medals in Rio:
1.Singapore: $745k
2.Indonesia: $380k (plus another $1500/month for life)
3.Philippines: $212k
4.Estonia: $111k

Notable countries offering zilch:
1.Great Britain
2.Norway
3.Sweden

As for some of the big boys:
1.Russia: $61k (they actually offered more than 2x this amount in 2012 and ended up paying out $6.7m for golds)
2.France: $60k
3.United States: $25k (paid out $3.7m for golds in 2012)
4.Germany: $24k

And then you’ve got South Korea, who not only pays $54k for a gold medal, but also excuses that athlete from the country’s mandatory 2-year military service".©
