We are looking for an experienced Sr. Quality Assurance Analyst to join our growing Quality Assurance Team. The successful candidate will possess strong deductive reasoning, extreme attention to detail, persistence, patience, creativity and ability to perform in a fast paced environment with aggressive timelines.

As member of a Scrum/Agile team the Sr. Quality Assurance Analyst will be responsible for, but not limited to, developing test cases, test scripts, reviewing user stories performing system integration and user acceptance testing and documenting deficiencies. The Sr. Quality Assurance Analyst will work closely with stakeholders from the Business Analysis, the Development and the Application Support Teams to develop, maintain, and execute test scripts and test strategies, accounting for extensive system and integration testing, resulting in no critical production issues. As a member of the Quality Assurance Team, the Sr. Quality Assurance Analyst will have ongoing responsibility and accountability for the quality of both primary product/feature areas as well as the overall quality of a release.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


• Develop and maintain test plans, test scripts for user interface, functionality, system and “ad-hoc testing”.
• Execute regression, functional and E2E testing.
• Look for defects in the software. Report, track and determine priority and severity of reported defects.
• Tracks defects and certifies fixes.
• Take a planned and self-directed exploratory approach to testing.
• Create comprehensive test plans to capture test strategy and approach and test cases and/or scripts mapping to end-user requirements.
• Maintain test scripts to ensure application requirements are met.
• Works effectively and efficiently with technical staff in resolving identified defects.
• Provide improvement recommendations on system or application performance.
• Ensure that technical documentation and applications are in agreement.
• Communicate with technical and business teams on testing progress.
• Investigate problems, find their root cause, and clearly document findings.
• Raise usability concerns and propose solutions to problems after performing thorough investigation, taking into account the needs of the system end users.
• Test bug fixes to determine if they are valid and complete.
• Perform scenario-based testing from the perspectives of various end-user roles.
• Validate crucial design decisions and try to find flaws with them.
• Propose suggestions for additions and improvements to the software.
• Communicate test status, findings, and progress on a regular basis.
• Perform other relevant tasks as assigned.
• As a member of a Scrum team participate in sprint planning meetings, daily stand-ups, product demos and sprint retrospective meetings.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Work Experience:
• College Diploma or University Degree in Computer Science or a technical field preferred or an acceptable combination of education and experience
• Certification in software testing (e.g. CSTE, CSQA).
• Minimum 7 years experience working in software Quality Assurance with a minimum of 2 years in a senior QA role.
• Expert level knowledge of the testing & deployment processes applicable to assigned products or systems.
• Test strategies for web-based applications preferably in the payroll, benefits or HR space.
• Experience with execution of both manual and automated test scripts.
• Strong knowledge of QA and software testing methodologies in support of a variety of software development methodologies, e.g. Agile, RUP, etc.
• Working knowledge of SQL and ability to author SQL for test data management tools and processes
• Proficient Knowledge working with Defect Tracking and Test Management Tools.
• Experience working in an agile development environment an asset.
• Experience collaborating with remote teams an asset.
Knowledge and Technical Skills:
• Well-versed in all testing methodologies (white vs. black box testing, system vs. functional testing)
• Well-versed in software process methodologies.
• A solid understanding of quality assurance as part of the SDLC.
• Familiarity using and administering Quality Centre, preferred.
• Familiarity with JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of Internet architecture and browsers.
• Solid understanding of SQL Server or Oracle
• Web development and software programming experience is an asset.
Certifications: CSTE/CSTA, ITIL
