JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
SERVICE SECTOR OVERVIEW
The TDI TS Data Management and Integration team is part of the TDI TS Shared Services group. Its mandate is to deliver pan TDI data management solutions in support of the organization’s business Intelligence, analytics and reporting needs. The sector’s focus is on ETL solutions managing data from multiple book of record source systems, thru Operational Data Stores, Data Warehouses and distribution models, including reporting and reporting platforms for TDI.
DELIVERY & METHODOLOGY
• Overall accountability for the delivery of the System Design Specification (SDS) and responsible for developing the Component Design section and the detailed design of applications of the SDS.
• Provide effort estimates for new projects and initiatives
• Provide direct input to the DMI Delivery Lead on timelines, estimates, risks, deviations to requirements, or other challenges during planning and throughout the project.
• Communicate project status and provide timely escalation of issues, deviations to requirements or other challenges to ensure project objectives are met
• Lead the creation of a comprehensive end-to-end solutions for projects and initiatives
o Provide overall Solution technical leadership through the project lifecycle.
o Coordinate with Architects, System analysis, and other Solution Designers
o Think differently – challenge the status quo, propose alternative solutions and document the "Cost, Scope and Schedule" impact.
o Understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Provide guidance to development team during the build
o Ensure design solutions align with target architecture provided by Solutions Architect, and propose alternate solutions to minimize gaps when necessary.
o Model, Map and Design all application requirements, including functional, security, integration, performance, quality, and operations requirements
o Advise and provide expert knowledge on the technical feasibility of the proposed deliverables
o Integrate components into appropriate work packages for your deliverable.
• Provide Support to the Lead Developer on:
o Participate in code reviews (this activity is owned by the Development Lead) to ensure quality, standards compliance, reusability and ease of maintenance
o Ensure design leverages existing reusable components and has traceability to requirements and ensure new modules are designed with reusability as a key requirement
o Work with Developers to ensure that the detailed technical design is fully understood and the development initiatives are in line with the intended design and standards
• Comply with the system development life cycle (SDLC), project management methodology (PMLC), business technology architecture, and risk and production capacity - including development of project documentation of system requirements, estimates of scope and cost, etc.
• Ensure adherence to all quality management plans and standards by participating in quality management reviews, Operational Readiness Reviews, and supporting gating and review sign-offs for solution design
• Responsible for the timely delivery of all of the DMI Solution Design teams activities while also driving Practice and Standards across their project team.
• Deliver effective and efficient solutions by meeting key Solution Design related project milestones and ensure that these deliverables are on time, within budget, and adhere to the corporate quality and security standards
• Develop expertise in TD services, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools and techniques that can contribute to effective solution design/delivery
• Continuously enhance knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies trends/developments and develop expertise in TD services, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools and techniques that can contribute to effective solution design/delivery
TECHNOLOGY & INFRASTRUCTURE
• Design, review, and integrate all application requirements, including functional, security, integration, performance, quality, and operations requirements, including both a logical and physical instantiation of the solution.
• Identify and address application and data issues and cross-capability and cross-release issues that affect application integrity
• Provide technical support for escalated incidents/outages to ensure that they are resolved efficiently with minimal impact to stakeholders
• Work with the Technology Project Manager, Technology Business Analysts, and other team members to define metrics and performance goals for the application
• Provide input into the Application Deployment Plan. The Deployment Plan documentation is owned by the Development lead.
• Monitor product lifecycles, ensuring specifications and functionality support business objectives and architecture decisions, undertaking re-design, as required
BUSINESS
• Assist in the identification of opportunities to minimize cost, provide recommendations and/or deliver corresponding strategic solutions to support cost effectiveness and to enhance stakeholder experience. This may include: evaluation of tools and utilities that boost productivity, refactoring / redesign of existing modules for performance and scalability, or process improvements
• Follow defined standards, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) and applicable Business Recovery Plans (BRP)
• Support Knowledge Management processes for LOB / portfolio and ensure knowledge is codified, monitored, tracked and managed
• Coordinate / facilitate training and communication of key knowledge assets with all required SMEs
• May develop and/or contribute to negotiations of vendor contracts/agreements

• Support obtaining stakeholder buy-in for application and technical designs
• Prioritize and manage own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines

JOB REQUIREMENTS / KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS
• 7 yrs + in the Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence domain
• Hands on experience with ETL development and data warehouse design(logical and physical)
• Academic knowledge of Data Management and Data Warehousing design and principles (Inmon, Kimball, MDM, structured data and unstructured data paradigms, Data acquisition, ODS, Warehouse, data distribution, data reporting, etc.)
• In depth knowledge of technology platforms and tools supporting the Data Management domain (ETL, data modeling, data lineage, data dictionary, relational and non-relational databases, distributed computing of large datasets, storage management, etc)
• Server Architecture knowledge (extension framework, request/response framework, system integration)
• Understand the capabilities and limitations of the technical environments that come with any packaged software used on data management platforms
• Experienced in Conceptual, Logical and Physical data modeling including understanding of industry financial data models such as FSLDM
• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills with ability to communicate clearly within all levels of the organization
• Strong listening and influencing skills to foster an open innovative and responsive environment and to drive change
• Proven ability to influence project team members and stakeholders
• Highly organized, self-motivated, customer oriented and able to work independently as well as within a team
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to build strong relationships with business partners, vendors and IT teams
