Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Equivalent
5+ years as a Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer
2+ years’ experience in a 24x7x365 operational environment is an asset
Strong analytical and documentation skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work in a rapidly changing, agile environment
Experience with large-scale Internet technologies; horizontally scaled, high data throughput is highly desirable
5+ years’ experience with RedHat/CentOS
2+ years in a second Unix/Linux such as Solaris, BSD (any), HP-UX, AIX, etc
Experience working with the following technologies
Java Container: Tomcat (required), Jetty
Web Server/Proxy: Apache (required), Nginx, HAProxy, Varnish
Database: Mysql (required), Hadoop, Mysql-Cluster, Cassandra, Memcache
Search: Lucene, Solr, Elastisearch (nice to haves)
Configuration Management: Puppet, Ansible
Version Control: Git, Subversion
Monitoring: Cacti, Nagios
Deployment Support: Kickstart, Vagrant, Fabric, Jenkins
Networking: TCP, UDP, IPv4, IPv6 (nice to have)
Protocols: HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, DNS, SMTP
Scripting: Perl, Python, Bash/sh (strong in one)
Patch Management: Spacewalk server (nice to have), yum, rpm (create and install)
Cloud Services: Amazon, Digital Ocean (both nice to have)
Virtualization: VMWare, Xen (nice to have one)
Familiarity with Hadoop/Java Tools: Hive, Pig, Impala, Kafka, Storm, ZeroMQ, JMX, Ant, Maven
Experience in identifying and tuning OS sysctl's for their workload
Solid understanding of networking, how to tune it and its impact on applications
