“I am the first one to admit that I am not perfect... I have made mistakes and all I can do right now is apologize for the mistakes,” Ford said shortly after the program began.

“I sincerely, sincerely apologize to my family, to the citizens and taxpayers of this city and my colleagues on Toronto city council. Unfortunately, I cannot change the past, I can only move forward and learn from the past.”

Ford, whose voice cracked at times, promised to “ride the storm out,” suggesting he would ignore calls for him to step down and seek treatment.

“To move forward, I have to make changes in my life, which I assure you I will do…. I want to keep working for the people of this city. There is still a lot of work to be done. I want to continue doing the job I was elected to do three years ago,” Ford said.
