A federal grand jury handed up a new indictment against the former executives of Bank of the Commonwealth and one of its loan customers, adding an additional count against former bank President and CEO Edward J. Woodard Jr.
The indictment, made public Friday after being handed up late Thursday, contains 26 counts of conspiracy, bank fraud, misapplication of bank funds, making false statements and false entries in bank records.
Woodard faces 12 of those counts, including a new charge that alleges he and a bank vice president "purloined" a $379,000 no-interest loan from the bank to purchase a Boush Street condominium in Woodard's wife's name. His wife has not been charged in the case.
