Job Description: Mircom designs, develops, and integrates highly sophisticated fire-protection related command, control, and communications systems for the industrial, commercial, and residential markets. These state-of-the-art systems combine advanced DSP software and multi-sensor integration to provide real-time protection to our installation facilities. Our systems transform large amounts of complex data into useful information that is clearly and intuitively presented on our panels, enabling emergency response staff to make informed decisions in real-time. Mircom is looking for an audio or multimedia firmware developer to assist us develop further offerings in the voice evacuation, mass notification, media processing, video processing and a/v messaging delivery space.

Preferred Skills: BS Degree in electrical engineering, software engineering or related field + 3 years of demonstrated results, or equivalent experience.

Must be capable to offer high-level architectural analyses and have hands-on c development experience. Requires ability to manage time effectively to meet schedule commitments. Requires good oral/written communication and interpersonal skills to support work in a team environment. Some local travel may be required.
Appreciate good understanding of embedded systems especially RTOS; Experience with ADI Blackfin and Motorola processors a plus;

Past project experience should include:
• kernels and device driver development;
• architectural design and system requirements definition
• C language expertise
• Understanding of creation and usage of modular architectures including APIs
• Ability to work with make files and professional build environment; Capable of presenting ideas technically to multiple audiences and supporting presentations with documents and tools like powerpoint, live demos, whiteboarding, other
• Experience in communication protocols, networking (RS485, RS232, TCP/IP or ArcNet),
• Linux development experience is an asset.
