The highest efficiency and with the spectrum closest to the natural sun light is High Pressure Sodium bulb. This bulb is really hot and higher energy bill is unavoidable. However, with electric and plug in hybrid cars nowadays high usage is not that unusual anymore and shouldn't trigger inspection. An average HPS bulb for green house use is around 1kw.
