Parking illegally while running in to a store or coffee shop during rush-hour is about to get a whole lot pricier — even if you are only there for a minute.
Under new rules that will take effect this week, the City of Toronto is hiking the fine for parking illegally during rush hour to a fixed amount of $150, up from $60.
The beefed-up rush hour fine will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Under the new rules, the city will also begin towing vehicles that are found parked illegally with a record of at least three unpaid parking tickets.
