Stintz actively opposed the mayor after he picked her to head the TTC.
She has used her position to craft a possible path to victory in 2014. Her job as TTC chair is the main reason she is talked about in the media.
If the mayor’s race is going to be more about character than policy, I’d argue a person of character would have resigned her position as TTC chair, rather than leading a revolt against the individual who gave her the job .
If Stintz had first resigned from the post Ford gave her, of course she would have had every right to disagree with him about the future of public transit. But that hasn’t been her way.
To me, she’s politically untrustworthy.
Stintz is also in favour of more revenue tools to fund public transit.
People can decide whether she is right in that position, but “revenue tools” is a way to use 12 letters to spell “taxes”.
Sales taxes and gas taxes hit low-income earners the hardest, as do taxes on businesses, which are passed on to the consumer. I’m not sure Stintz worries enough about that.
