Was a fun day at the range...guess those days are gone...this gun ban is a joke. Let's look at the evidence:
1) Prime Minister basically did what Trump does, signed what amounts to an Executive Order. No debate or vote in parliament? Very democratic.
2) He and his parrot, Bill Blaire, filling the air with hyperbole and rhetoric. There were no "Military Style" firearms that were legal in Canada. Any of the guns banned are not military grade.
3) Shame on him to use the event in Nova Scotia to push through his own agenda. The guns used in the shooting were Obtained Illegally, so this ban would have done nothing to stop that.
4) Around 60% of crimes with a firearm are committed with a handgun...which are not under this ban.
5) The second type of firearm used in crimes are sawed off shotguns. Which can still be purchased legally and altered, which makes them illegal as it was.
6) Rifles and Assault rifles account for around 5% of gun crimes and most assault rifles are obtained illegally.
7) Most gun crimes committed in Canada are committed using illegally obtained firearms, so this does nothing to stop that.
I bet that most of you that think this is good, have no idea how hard it was to get one of those guns and a restricted licence in the first place and how tightly they are monitored.
Trudeau did the coward, easy move. Catering to the ignorance of urban populations. Stopping the illegal.flow of guns is what he should have done!
I will make the bet now, gun crimes does not drop as a result of this, and we will have another mass shooting with an illegally obtained firearm.
There knuckleheads even banned a gun that is a .308. That's a deer and moose rifle. Nobody's oiling a mass shooting with one of those.
We share a border with the gun capital of the world. That's the problem.
