I am writing this letter to an old email list of former Humber Sailing Club members to help recruit sailboat racing crew for the Tuesday and Thursday night races at Etobicoke Yacht Club (E.Y.C.). My boat, Alchemist, is well known by Humber members from prior to 2010. She is a C&C 29 Mk 2 that is entered in the very competitive Spinnaker racing division. I am looking for crew for myself on Alchemist and for other skippers at E.Y.C. who are often in need of crew.

Our season goes from Tuesday, May 16th. with the first race in the “Spring” series and ends on Tuesday, October 10th. with the final race in the “Frostbite” series. We race every Tuesday and Thursday with the boats leaving the docks at 18:00 hrs. We are usually back at the docks at about 21:00 hrs.

Our team on Alchemist has 5 practice sessions before the first race. The first practice session is in the morning of Sunday, April 30th., then at 18:00 hrs. on Tuesday, May 2nd., Thursday, May 4th., Tuesday, May 9th. and finally on Thursday, May 11th. Other E.Y.C. skippers also have practice sessions before the first race.

If you are interested in crewing please send me an email with a brief bio of your sailing experience. Experience is helpful but a good attitude and willingness to learn and bond with others as a team is also important. I will try to find the best possible fit for you. We have a mixture of small and large white sail boats as well as small and large spinnaker boats.

Racing at E.Y.C. is very competitive but also fun. Every race is a new experience and opportunity to learn and enjoy.

Take care.
