Description:
Under the leadership of the Team Lead, OSS SI ETL/Database Support specialist is responsible for the data collection support and operations, security, installation / deployment, configuration, routine maintenance of the multiple Databases and other data peripherals. This position may entail regular work time; however work hours may change depending on business requirements.
The OSS (Operations Systems Support) National team is responsible for the monitoring, alarming and support systems for the Mobility Cellular, Paging & Data Wireless Networks. The group’s mission is to identify, develop and deploy best-of-breed technologies that reduce capital costs and improve performance in supporting systems for the wireless networks across the client.
Job Duties/Accountabilities:
Act as first level support for ETL-s
Assist and act as second level support for ETL-s to resolve any operational issues and appropriate escalations based on established SLA.
Ensure that data collection process is completed and verified during business week. Run additional processes to compensate for issues.
Ensure that daily processes are successfully completed. Re-run required procedures for failed jobs.
Daily monitoring of platform issues and appropriate action responding in the timely manner.
Immediate notification on issues effecting reports and appropriate escalation based on established SLA.
Performing day to day duties including coordination, tracking, execution and follow up of the processes including data collection and distribution.
Performing additional tasks regarding data inconsistency on daily bases.
Manage & monitor databases in production and development
Perform database space management, performance tuning and optimization of database design in an proactive manner
Other similar duties as assigned
Critical Qualifications/Competencies:
University degree in Engineering in a related field (Computer Science or IS/IT) or equivalent and 7 years work experience;
Informatica 9/up experience (development and support) ;
Oracle 11g/12c experience (Enterprise Edition) ; Exadata
Previous experience in Unix (Sun Solaris/Linux) environments;
T-SQL and PL/SQL Scripting;
Unix Shell-Scripting experience is a necessity;
Data warehouse and ODS background;
Strong communication skills ;
Proven success in handing conflicting demands and priorities effectively ;
Proactive approach to resolving technical problems ;
Ability to work under tight deadline and pressure;
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:
OWB (Oracle Warehouse Builder)
Veritas Netbackup
Data management platform experience
Project management training or experience
Bilingual - English/French
