ETL Architect

6 month contract (likely 3+ years)

Downtown - 1 Richmond St W


Accountabilities:



Create, Update and Maintain ETL Architecture document for complex projects to ensure the ETL solution adheres to solution and the Information Management standards. For less complex projects, provide guidance to the ETL Team Lead who drafts the ETL Architecture document, and review them for completeness and accuracy.

Review and sign-off of detailed ETL design documentation.

Participates in business requirements, data model, ETL and database design reviews.

Coordinates with Solution Architect, Data Architect , SAS Architect and BI architect to ensure a cohesive solution

Contribute to the Logical Data Model development.

Responsible for creating and coordinating data acquisition activities.

Maintain and publish ETL Best Practices and Naming Standards document.

Provide leadership and guidance to ensure development of efficient ETLs by

utilizing established methodologies and best practices

making recommendations for ETL design and performance enhancements for large data volume loads and processing

Respond to and resolve data quality, data reconciliation and data integrity issues.

Establish standards and methodologies supporting the development of modular and reusable objects

Establish practices to ensure compliance with standards (e.g., design and code reviews).

Coach and mentor others on SQL, Informatica, best-practice methodologies, architecture, etc.



Required skills:

Expert technical skills and knowledge of the following:

o AIX Operating System

o DB2 UDB especially in a Very Large Database (VLDB) environment

o UNIX Scripting

o ETL tools (Data Stage, Informatica, SAS DI)

Working knowledge of the following:

o MVS

o Cobol

o Scheduling Systems (such as Tivoli Workload Scheduler)

o SAS

o HADOOP

o Netezza

o Financial Industry Models (e.g., IBM Banking Data Warehouse)

Proven verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent problem solving & analytical skills to recognize data patterns, quantify potential issues and identify solutions

Disciplined self-starter, able to be highly productive both working alone and in close collaboration within a team

Passionate and knowledgeable about exploring and experimenting with the latest SAS offerings.
