The alleged Rob Ford crack video has many mysteries attached to it, but on Friday, one stood out a bit larger than the rest — who, or what, is “Slurpy”?

When the National Post‘s Megan O’Toole paid a visit to the address linked to the alleged video, she was given a number of odd details from the man living in the Rexdale apartment unit — but it was the revelation of a Rob Ford doppelganger named Slurpy that sent social media into a tailspin.

The apartment dweller, who claimed to have seen the alleged video, told O’Toole that “he and his friends briefly considered making a fraudulent crack video starring an acquaintance and Rob Ford lookalike nicknamed “Slurpy,” in an attempt to discredit the real thing.”

“Slurpy” declined to participate, not wishing to be part of the growing controversy unfolding at City Hall, the man who answered the door at apartment 1703 at 320 Dixon Road told O’Toole.

“We don’t like Rob Ford getting screwed,” the man added. “We wanted to help him… 85% of [young Somalis] are very upset about these guys with the video.”
