The Salvation Army will update the public this afternoon about allegations of an internal theft involving $2 million in donated toys at its Toronto warehouse.

It's alleged donated toys and food were stolen from the Salvation Army’s warehouse on Railside Road, near the Don Valley Parkway and Lawrence Avenue.

CBC News has confirmed the warehouse, where the charity stores and sorts donations, is the focus of a police investigation.

A report in the Toronto Star says it's alleged that more than $2 million worth of toys has been taken from the Toronto warehouse over two years. The newspaper also reports that the agency has fired its executive director in response to complaints made by a whistleblowing employee
